Hyderabad, Jan 30, 2015: Determined to take the Krishna water controversy to its logical conclusion, Telangana government has decided not to release water into the right canal of Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir.
The Government has asked the Krishna River Management Board to decide on the share of the Krishna water for the two states before further release of its water into the right canal that takes water to the Guntur and Prakasam districts.
"First decide the water share , then only we will agree to release water into the right canal," the Telangana Government made it clear to the Board.
Telangana Government feels that the AP has already consumed more water than its fair share and has therefore decided that further releases of water should be stopped forthwith.
It is interesting to note that the Telangana Government took this decision hardly 24 hours after the AP Government has written to the Centre to take over the operations of Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam Dams to have its fair share of water from the two reservoirs.
