Defamation case: Jadeja sues newspaper, seeks Rs 51 cr in damages

Rajkot, Jan 21: Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja is reported to have filed a defamation suit against the editor of a local evening newspaper called 'Aabtak' for defamation. Sources said the Indian cricketer was seeking damages of Rs 51 crore from the newspaper. A civil court judge in Rajkot is said to have issued a summons to Satish Mehta, editor and owner of the newspaper. The judge asked the editor to be present in the court on February 4, sources said. Reports said the newspaper is reported to have published on November 20, 2014 a news item claiming that Jadeja and his alleged business partner Jenesih Ajmera had links with a land grabber.
