Chandrababu asks people to beget more children

Hyderabad, Jan 19, 2015: AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's appeal to people to beget more children to keep Andhra Pradesh younger has become a hot topic of discussion among political observers here. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a gathering of people at Velivennu in West Godavari district during the launching of his Padayatra on Sunday, has appealed to people to beget more children. Defending his appeal, he said like Japan, AP would soon have more number of aged people than the younger ones as people are not marrying at early age. Like Japan, we will too face several problems on that count, he remarked. "Youngsters are not willing to get married early . They are getting married late and want to enjoy life before begetting children," he said, adding if the trend continues AP will soon land in trouble. Asserting this is not good for the state and the country, he asked couples to have one or more children if possible not binding themselves to family planning. Chandrababu said he had really advocated family planning in the past and confined himself to one child. "Now, I realise this is not good as it gave no results," he remarked. He said that development will take a back seat as production will come down without youngsters in the state. Political observers feel that Chandrababu Naidu's suggestion is very sound and worth considering in the back drop of family planning practices in the last three decades resulting in smaller families, break up of joint families and destructive family relations.
