AP MPs want new trains, improved facilities at rail stations

Vijayawada, Jan 7: Eighteen parliamentarians from Andhra Pradesh are reported to have sought better connectivity between the new capital near Vijayawada and Rayalaseema districts. During a meeting with the South Central Railways (SCR) General Manager P K Srivastava, the MPs expressed their views and demands. Srivastava plans to forward their suggestions to the Railway Board before the 2015-16 rail budget. MPs including Rayalaseema MP J C Diwakar Reddy suggested doubling and electrification of the existing railway line between Guntakal and Guntur. They also demanded the improving frequency of Machilipatnam-Yaswantapur express from the present three days to seven. They wanted new trains between Bengaluru and Vijayawada via Anantpur, Guntal, Guntur and early completion of work on Erraguntla and Nandyal railway line.
