Policeman canes devotee in Srikalahasti

Hyderabad, Jan 5: A Special Protection Force constable is reported to have caned a devotee from Anantapur at the Srikalahasti temple in Chittoor Monday morning. The devotee, Gangadhar, fell unconscious after he was hit on his head and authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Gangadhar is a native of Dharmavaram in Anantapur. According to reports, Gangadhar is believed to have tried to bypass the queue. This enraged the policeman, who was on duty, who then canned him black and blue. The devotee is believed to have fallen down unconscious after he was hit on the head. The incident took place when a large number of devotees came to have darshan of the goddess at Srikalahasti temple as it happens to be Monday.
