Centre approves iconic bridge on Krishna River

New Delhi, October 14: The Central government gave green signal for the construction of an iconic cable-stayed-cum suspension bridge across Krishna river between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Announcing this through Twitter, Union Minister for Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari informed that the bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,082.56 crore between Siddeswaram and Somasila. The bridge will be completed in 30 months.

He said that this will bridge will become historical second bridge in the world and first in the country. With glass walkway, temple tower shaped pylon and lighting system and surrounded by Nallamala forest and green mountains, the bridge is likely to turn a famous tourism attraction.

This bridge will solve the woes of people, who have to travel by boat in Krishna River to reach Andhra Pradesh from Kollapur, Telangana. Or else, they have to travel 100 km extra to go on road. In 2007, 61 people were drowned as the boat capsized in Krishna river. Since then, people are demanding to construct bridge here.
