Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday strongly reacted to allegations made by YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the Mega District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment process. In a video message released on social media, Lokesh challenged Jagan to stop the DSC if he can and clarified the difference between DSC and APPSC, accusing the former CM of speaking without understanding the basics.
Lokesh pointed out that during the previous YSRCP government’s five-year tenure, not a single teacher post was filled through DSC. In contrast, he said, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s first signature after taking oath was on the DSC file, leading to the filling of around 16,000 teacher posts under the present government.
“You filed nearly 300 cases to stop the DSC and even sought a CBI inquiry through an MLC, but the courts rejected every attempt and found no fault with us,” Lokesh said. He added that education department officials had already addressed all allegations in a press meet, yet Jagan continued to “spew venom” against the recruitment process.
The minister also warned against attempts by “certain journalists” linked to the opposition to pressure or attack teachers in government schools, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone who targets educators.
Referring to past events, Lokesh recalled that three years ago Chandrababu Naidu was arrested at midnight over alleged irregularities in a skill development scheme and was kept in jail for 53 days. He noted that after the judicial process concluded, Naidu received a clean chit, with regulatory bodies confirming that no corruption had taken place and that neither the leader, his family nor the party had received any illegal funds.
Lokesh reiterated the TDP-led government’s commitment: “I met unemployed youth during the Yuva Galam padayatra and understood their problems. That is why I am determined to conduct DSC every year. We will fill 3,000 teacher posts annually and aim to recruit nearly 30,000 teachers in these five years. If you can, try to stop me. I will not give up.”
He announced that the next DSC notification would be released soon and urged the youth to prepare well, write the exam sincerely, become good teachers and work together to strengthen government schools.
