Amaravati, October 13: TDP media coordinator Darapaneni Narendra Babu was arrested by CID officials on Wednesday night. He was taken into custody at his residence in Guntur and was shifted to CID office.

Seven persons in plain clothes went to Narendra’s hosue at 6.30 pm and seized his mobiles. Stating that they are from CID, they asked Narendra to tell as to who forwarded the message linking a higher official with gold smuggling case. He was grilled for about two hours.
At about 8.30 pm, the officials said that they are arresting Narendra and handed over the arrest notice to his wife Soubhagyamma. It was mentioned in the notice that Narendra will be produced in the court on Thursday.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu spoke with Narendra family members and assured that party will support them.
Meanwhile, TDP leaders and activists staged a protest at CID office in Guntur. They lashed out at the government that it is arresting TDP leaders only to divert public attention from the YSRCP leaders’ land grabbing case in Vizag.
