BJP fed up with Rajini, gives up efforts to bring him into party

Chennai, Dec 29, 2014: BJP top leadership has reportedly refused to give more time to southern super star Rajinikanth to decide on joining BJP. The party has now given up its efforts to bring him into the party. BJP President Amit Shah seems to have lost his patience with the delaying tactics of the actor in taking a decision on joining the party. "It is of no use convincing him. Any how, party will not benefit with such a dilly dallying person," he reportedly observed with his senior colleagues. BJP, which is of the view that Rajini has the charisma of AIADMK's Jayalalita and DMK's Karunanidhi, invited him to join the party so that it can grow as a force to reckon with in the south, especially in Tamil Nadu and win the next elections. During election campaign, Narendra Modi called on Rajini and invited him to join the party during his visit to Chennai. Later, Amit Shah spoke to Rajini over telephone and asked him to decide fast. Then, at the instance of party high command, former Karnataka CM Edurappa met Rajini in Bangalore during the shooting of Lingaa movie and urged him to join the party. Again, Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamila Sai also called on Rajini at his house recently and urged him to join the party immediately. Rajini was also told that he would become the CM in the event of party coming to power. During all these meetings, Rajini continued to seek more time to decide on the issue. Finally, when Amit Shah called him up over phone and sought a decision ahead of his visit to Chennai, Rajinikanth again sought four more months to give his final decision. BJP assessed his mind and thought that Rajini had sought four more months to decide on his entry into BJP to wait for the final outcome of the former chief minister Jayalalita's case. "In these four months, her case will be decided. Perhaps, he wants to take a decision depending on the outcome of the case and the situation prevailing then," was the opinion of the BJP leadership. With this in mind, it reportedly gave up its efforts to rope him into the party.
