AP, TS must sort out water, power issues amicably, says CWC chief

Hyderabad, Nov 13: Central Water Commission Chairman Ashwin B. Pandya here on Thursday said Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has to sit down and properly communicate each other's view point if they wish to solve the issue of Krishna river waters. Pandya also said both the states need to evolve a consultative mechanism in order to discuss the issue. The CWC chief was here to attend a workshop at the Water & Land Management, Training & Research Institute (WALAMTARI). Commenting on the war between AP and Telangana on the issue of power generation at the Srisaialm power house, the CWC chief said the Krishna Water Management Board (KWMB) should review the situation and act on it accordingly. Pandya said both the states need to cooperate with each other in order to help the KWMB and the people to benefit. Stating that there was an urgent need to frame rules that both the states would follow, he said until then existing provisions will have to be followed.
