Notice served on Chiranjeevi to vacate official residence in New Delhi
New Delhi, Nov 13: Former Union Minister and Congress leader from Andhra Pradesh K Chiranjeevi, who continued to occupy government accommodation that he is no longer entitled to, has received a notice to vacate his official residence.
Officials of the Urban Development Ministry pasted the notice on the wall outside his residence in New Delhi. The notice stated that he was allotted the residence when he was the Union minister and now that he is just a Rajya Sabha member, he needs to vacate the residence.
Earlier too such notices were served on several former Ministers and MPs who lost the elections and are not entitled to government accommodation.
However, there are also some who are members of the Rajya Sabha like Chiranjeevi and [they] have to move to suitable accommodation from their current addresses.
Though the government had allowed them to stay on till June 26 as per the law; this deadline was then extended to July 26.
