TS Speaker suspends 10 TDP legislators for one week, police arrest them for disturbance
Hyderabad, Nov 13: Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary on Thursday suspended 10 legislators of Telugu Desam Party as they stalled the proceedings of the assembly by shouting slogans against the ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
Later, Telangana police arrested the suspended MLAs, who were staging a protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the main entrance to the assembly, and took them to Nampally police station.
The legislators were suspended for supporting TDP MLA Revanth Reddy, who had raised an allegation against TRS parliamentarian Kavitha. TRS then demanded an apology from Revanth Reddy on the allegation.
However, TDP MLAs protested and raised slogans against the Telangana government. Following which, Legislative Affairs Minister Harish Rao moved a resolution for their suspension amid pandemonium.
Speaker Madhusudhana Chary admitted the resolution and announced the suspension of the MLAs for one week. The suspended MLAs include M Gandhi, Gopinath, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, Prakash Goud, Rajendar Reddy, Saianna, Vivekanand Goud, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkat Veeraiah.
