SC categorization issue rocks Assembly; Suspension of three Oppn MLAs revoked
Hyderabad, Dec. 27 : SC Reservation Categorization issue rocked the Assembly on Tuesday when the Opposition parties’ members rushed into the well and demanded that the Speaker allow their adjournment motion on it during the question hour. The Speaker suspended two TDP and one Congress member from the House.
Immediately after the start of the House, the Congress and TDP members raised their voice demanding that the chair take the all-party delegation toDelhi. The Speaker appealed to the agitating members to allow him to continue the question hour. But, TDP members Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, Revanth Reddy and Congress member SA Sampath Kumar rushed to the podium and raised slogans against the government. They did not budge from the podium for over half-an-hour.
Consequently, Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao moved a suspension motion against the three agitating members. Accordingly, the Speaker announced that the members were suspended from the House till the end of the winter session.
At this juncture, Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy demanded that the government assure the House that it would take an all-party delegation toDelhi to pursue SC Categorization issue with the Centre. Reacting to Jana Reddy’s plea, Harish Rao said the State government will take an all-party delegation to Delhi as demanded. Satisfied with the answer of the government, Jana Reddy and other Opposition parties’ leaders urged the government to revoke the suspension imposed on the Opposition members. Accordingly, the government revoked the suspension immediately
