New Design In Other Denominations Also

New Delhi : GOI on Friday told that in due course it will introduce new designs in other denomination bank notes also.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, minister of state for finance in a written reply to Lok Sabha said that “The currency notes in the denomination of Rs2,000 and Rs500 with new design have been introduced recently. New design in other denomination bank notes will be introduced in due course.”

Minister told that government has taken series of steps to ameliorate the inconvenience occured to the public. “Banks and RBI have been instructed to step up the supply of currency to the public. The issuance of cash and availability of cash to post offices and banks is being constantly monitored on a daily basis" he added.

Meghwal told that about Rs.370 cr of jewellery and cash has been seized by the IT department since the announcement of demonetisation. He further said that “It is difficult to pin-point the exact impact of currency ban on the economy via its possible impact on the aforesaid factors.”
