Chennai Students Beaten For 'Insulting' National Anthem At Movie Theatre
Chennai : Allegedly because of not standing when the National Anthem was playing inside a movie theatre, a group of students were threatened and manhandled in Chennai.

Reports suggest that police registered cases against the students who insulted the National Anthem and didn't taken any action against the people who attacked them. A group of 20 people attacked four boys and four girls during the intermission of 11.30am show of "Chennai 600028 II" at Kasi theatre in Chennai's Ashok Nagar.

Witness told that while the national anthem was being played, nine people didn't stand. Vijayakumar, a civil services aspirant grabbed the person by collar and demanded to tell why he remained seated while anthem was playing. Arguments heated up and 20 people ganged up on the people who remained seated during anthem.

Victims telling that they have no intention to dishonour National Anthem. But Vijaykumar told that "they were busy in taking selfies while the anthem was being played, this act was not accepted by many of us." Two groups were taken to the near by Police Station.

On 30 November Supreme Court of India gave a ruling that all cinema theatres should play National Anthem before screening the movie and everyone must stand.
