Sasikala, New AIADMK General Secretary ?

Chennai: AIADMK passed the baton to Sasikala. Now she is the new AIADMK General Secretary. Party leadership today resolved to appoint Sasikala, close aid of late CM Jayalalithaa as AIADMK new general secretary. She has a very long association with Jayalalithaa and performed her last rites also. Party cadre use to call him as Chinnamma. Though she holds no official position in the government or the party, observers say that some times she acted as defacto authority also. Earlier Late Jayalalithaa helf all powerful general secretary post along with Chief Ministership. Already Jayalalithaa's loyal and trusted aid O Panneerselvam was elected/selected as new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK has been dominated by two intermediate castes Kongu Vellalars and Mukkulathors. Kongu Vellalars are dominant in the western part of the State where as Mukkulathors are present in southern and central districts. Sasikala hails from Mukkulathor community. Well placed sources said that she had often favoured people belong to her caste.
