Jio ads : PMO Did Not Grant Permission To Use Modi's Photo
New Delhi: The PMO (The Prime Minister’s Office) told that it hasn't grant any permission to Reliance Jio to use PM Modi's photo in electronic and print ads. In a written response in Rajya Sabha to the question asked by SP's MP Neeraj Shekhar, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting said the above information and admitted that Govt was aware of Reliance Jio usage of PM Modi's photo in ads. He also told that DAVP (Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity), media unit of his ministry and the nodal agency which look after the publicity issues “releases ads related to government only and it does not release ads of any private organisation.” Regarding the action against Jio, Minister informed that the Emblems and Names (prevention of improper use) Act 1950 will be administered by the Min of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. During the launch Jio used PM Modi's photos extensively in advertising campaign. Which attracted vehement criticism from political parties, particularly Delhi CM Aravind Kejriwal pointed out this act and demanded action against Jio.
