Efforts on for cashless transactions in FP shops
Hyderabad, Dec.1: Civil Supplies Department is making efforts for cashless transactions in all the Fair Price shops.
As per the instructions of the State Government on cashless system, Commissioner C.V. Anand, IPS, convened a meeting with the officials of his Department and representatives of Bankers to elicit their views on implementation of cashless transactions in all the Fair Price Shops in view of shortage of currency. Representatives of SBH, SBI, ICICI, Vijaya Bank, Yes Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of India and others attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the Commissioner said there are 18,000 FP Shops and 84 lakh families were drawing their ration every month. Without restricting the FP shops to issue ration to the cardholders, the department was also planning to install Micro ATMs to enable the FP shops to make other transactions such as payment of water bill, electricity bill and so on. The representatives of the Bankers raised the issues of swiping machines, valet, ATM cards etc. The CS Commissioner directed the officials to prepare an action plan for cashless system in FP shops under Public Distribution System in the next few days.
