1.8 lakh ATMs Re-Calibrated
Mumbai: Out of 2 lakh ATMs present across India, around 90% (1.8 lakh) ATMs have been re calibrated in order to dispense the new Rs.2000 and Rs.500 notes. As per scheduled plan all the ATMs should have been re calibrated by yesterday. On November 14, a task force was constituted under the chairmanship of RRI deputy governor S.S Mundra to look after the ATMs recalibration process.Task force includes representatives from ATM manufacturers like Diebold Nixdor, NCR, service providers and cash in transit companies. Navroze Dastur, MD, NCR Corporation told "A working group, constituted under a RBI headed task force, has given a deadline to re-calibrate all the ATMs present across the country by November 30. About 90%, which is around 1.80 lakh ATMs have been re-calibrated till today in order to dispense new Rs.2000 and Rs.500 notes." It is expected that rest of the ATMs will be re calibrated in next 10 days to dispense the new currency notes.
