Gujarat Local Body By-Elections : Big Win For BJP After Notes Ban
Gandhinagar, November 29, 2016: A sigh of relief as well as a big boost for the BJP ahead of next year Assembly polls. Out of 126 municipal and panchayat seats by-elections in 16 districts it has won 109 and gained 40 seats from the opposition Congress party. Many of these seats were relinquished in last year's Municipal elections held under the leadership of the then CM Anandiben Patel. Congress expected that currency demonetisation will surely help them. Surprisingly it got only 17 seats. PM Modi thanked Gujarat people for registering confidence on BJP. He tweeted "Be it the Northeast, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat...BJP has performed very well. I thank the people"
