JP asks Centre to keep word on special status to AP

Hyderabad, Nov.25: Loksatta party founder-president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan today said the Centre should stick to its commitment of providing special status to Andhra Pradesh. Speaking after releasing a booklet on “Road map to AP Special Status”, Dr JP said the people have supported and voted for TDP and BJP expecting that special status would help in providing incentives and concessions for industries, job opportunities and development of the State. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, with the cooperation of others, should collectively strive to get special status to the State. The Centre should announce special status to at least districts of Rayalaseema, North Andhra and North Telangana regions if it thinks that other States would raise the same demand after Andhra Pradesh, Loksatta leader said.
