From Tomorrow No Over The Counter Exchange Of Old Rs.1000 & 500 Notes
Starting from today's midnight exchange of old Rs.1000 & 500 Notes in all the banks as well as post offices will be stopped. It is heard that based on the intelligence inputs and various media reports over mismanagement of note exchange over bank counters, GOI decided not to extend the date. In a press release GOI said "It has been observed that over the counter exchange of the old currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 denomination has shown a declining trend. Consequently, there will be no over the counter exchange of old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes after midnight of 24.11.2016" Amid united opposition attack over notes ban PM called for Cabinet Meet to chalk out the future course of action.
