To meet the challenges araised from unprecedented currency crunch, banks searching for all the available options. They are disbursing soiled and mutilated currency which was taken out of circulation years back. Many customers in National Capital complained to media that they got some of such soiled and mutilated notes. It is heard that some notes smelt very bad. Bank staff saying that they have received such old Rs.100 notes from RBI which stored years ago. To avoid bad smell and infections they are spraying insecticides and perfumes before disbursing to public. Usually all such soiled and mutilated currency notes collected by banks will be sent to RBI, from there they will be dumped. It seems holding such currency from years together bringing a sigh of relief to RBI. After analysing the logistics experts calculating that it may take six to eight months to match the demand-supply equilibrium.
