KVP's 'Spl Status' bill is 'Money Bill' : RajyaSabha
Today ,Rajya Sabha declared that MP KVP Ramachandra Rao's private member bill on AP Special Category Status as Money Bill. On March 11, KVP tabled a private member bill in Rajya Sabha seeking an amendment to AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 . In the bill he included all the details of assurances and promises made by GOI. After observing the formalities Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha referred it to Loksabha Speaker to judge whether it is money bill or not. According to parliamentary rules and regulations Money bill cannot be introduced in Rajya Sabha. What is a private Bill - A private member Bill is a proposal for a legislation that would apply to a specific individual or group. If the bill passed, the Bill will be directed to the LS/RS, according to the parliamentary procedures Private members Bills come up for voting on Fridays. So far, Parliament has passed 15 private members’ Bills.
