AP earns Centre’s praise for implementing latest technologies in power sector
Hyderabad, Oct.7: The efforts of AP Govt in implementing the latest innovative technologies in power sector and special focus on promoting Renewable Energy sources have received wide range of appreciation from the Central Government. during the Power Ministers Conference being held at Baroda, Gujarat during October 7th -8th .
The Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal, while launching Centralized Control & Monitoring System (CCMS) of LED street lighting in AP and online feeder monitoring system of APDISCOMs during the conference, has praised CM of AP, N Chandrababu Naidu for his dynamic leadership & innovative vision under which AP power sector is leading the Country with best global practices.
When the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the ambitious target of setting up of 1,75,000 MW Renewable Energy in the country during the COP21 Summit on Climate Change at Paris, the AP Govt. has proactively supported by setting up a state target of 10% of GoI target i.e., 10,000 MW of Solar power and 8,000 MW of Wind power in AP. The Commitment of AP Govt. in promoting the Green Energy was visible with Commissioning of the 250MW solar park at Anantapuram within a record period of 10 months after commencing the work and is the first Solar Park in India achieving this mile stone, said Piyush Goyal,.
The Minister for Labour & Employment, GoAP Atchannaidu, who is representing the State Govt on behalf of the CM informed that AP has made fool-proof arrangements for setting up of 10,000MW Solar Power & 8,000MW Wind power as per the target of GoI. By 2022, AP state is expected to meet maximum power demand through Green power for 3 to 4 months.
The Prl. Secretary, Energy I&I, CRDA, Ajay Jain who made a power point presentation during the Conference on the achievements of AP Power sector & developments in Green power, said that, AP has become largest player in developing Solar Parks in the Country with highest sanctioned capacity of 4000MW so far under Ministry of New Renewable Energy (MNRE) scheme for development of Solar Parks, under which around 2000MW of solar parks would be set up in Ananthapur District, while 1000 MW parks would be set up in Kurnool & Kadapa districts. The present installed capacity of Solar Power projects is 950 MW of which 435 MW was installed in FY 15-16, & 436MW was installed till date in FY 2016-17. Around 4000MW Solar Projects including Solar Parks are under development at various stages.
Under the wind power development, around 9,000MW projects were sanctioned by GoAP of which around2,000MW projects were commissioned & around 7,000MW projects are under progress. The APTRANSCO has taken up the strengthening of transmission infrastructure for evacuating the renewable power under Green Energy Corridor, said Jain.
While extending full support to GoAP policy for Renewable energy, the APERC has published draft regulation for Forecasting, Scheduling, Deviation Settlement and Related Matters of Solar and Wind Generation Sources. The APERC has also placed notice and draft Renewable Power Purchase Obligation(RPPO) Regulations, 2016 prescribing the RPPO targets for the years from 2017-18 to 2021-22 by expending the trajectory issued by Govt. of India and invited comments/views/ suggestions from all the stakeholders, added Prl.Secy.
