DK Aruna Demands Gadwal Dist, Sends her Resignation Letter to CM
Hyderabad, Oct.1: Congress MLA from Gadwal DK Aruna has decided to tender her resignation to her MLA position, demanding the Chief Minister to create a new district with Gadwal as headquarters. She said that she is sending her resignation letter and request letter for the creation of Gadwal district, to the Chief Minister today.
On Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan, Aruna released her resignation letter at a press conference, and sent the same to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao urging him to send the same to the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary after announcing Gadwal as a new district. She asked the Chief Minister to create a new district in the name of Gadwal respecting the wishes of the people of Nadigadda (Gadwal and Alampur constituencies are called as Nadigadda because they were in between Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers).
She said that many TRS leaders from Mahabubnagar district were saying that the Chief Minister was not creating Gadwal district because of her. “The TRS leaders are indulging in the campaign against me that the Chief Minister is not creating Gadwal district because of me. It is severely paining me and hence I am tendering resignation l to my MLA post. I am sending the same to the Chief Minister. Now he can create the district in the name of Gadwal”, she said.
Alleging that the Chief Minister was least bothered about the 13403 petitions online demanding the Gadwal district and not to merge the Nadigadda area into Wanaparthy district, Aruna asked the Chief Minister to create Gadwal district by respecting the self-respect of the people. She said that the people also addressed letters to the officials concerned.
When asked as to why she was not sending the resignation letter to the Speaker directly, she said that the Chief Minister has to send the letter to the Speaker only after announcing the Gadwal district. She said that Gadwal people had expressed their wish for the creation of Gadwal district since the last one year in various forms…rasta rokos, rallies, padayatras, hunger strikes, seizer of highways, burning of effigies by organizing protest programs. “But there is no response from the Chief Minister”, she wondered. She explained that people have lodged their objections after the announcement of Draft Notification, but there was no response from the TRS government.
“Several people have informed me that KCR likes resignations. Chief Minister likes resignations and he had gone for elections by tendering resignations to MLA and MP positions several times during Telangana movement. I am tendering resignation for the Gadwal district”, she explained.
She read out her resignation letter, and a letter addressed to the Chief Minister in the media conference. “I am sending the resignation letter addressed to the Speaker, to the Chief Minister. Chief Minister has to send the same letter to the Speaker of acceptance only after announcing the Gadwal district”, she mentioned in her letter.
Reacting to a question Aruna said that she would not leave politics and the people. “I will be with people after the acceptance of the resignation. I will not go anywhere after the resignation. I must contest the by-election”, she clearly said.
