KTR leaves for Delhi today to seek Central aid
Hyderabad, Sept.28: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Taraka Ramarao is leaving for the national capital on Thursday to seek special assistance from the Centre for the municipalities in the State.
The Telangana MAUD Minister will meet Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday evening and discuss with him about various issues pertaining to the municipalities, especially colossal damage to crops and roads in the wake of torrential rains in the State for a week. In this connection, KTR reportedly directed Special Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration Department M G Gopal to prepare a comprehensive report on the huge losses suffered by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation as well as all other municipalities in the State.
After receiving a report from the Special Principal Secretary, Taraka Ramarao will submit the same to Venkaiah Naidu and request for Central assistance for taking up renovation of roads and other basic amenities which were badly damaged in the week-long downpour. Apart from this, the Centre will be granting Rs 10.73 crore to Telangana State under the Amrit Project scheme as an incentive for executing works satisfactorily.
In a letter to MAUD Minister K. Taraka Ramaro, the Centre informed him that 12 towns in Telangana State were identified under the Amrit scheme and it would be presenting incentive to the State government. The Centre also sent an invitation to KTR to participate in the INDOSAN-2016 (India Sanitation Conference) to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 30. The Centre is likely to hand over documents of incentive funds to the State to the minister.
