AP CM asks DISCOMS to offer best services and earn profits
Hyderabad/ Vijayawada, Sept.27: In order to provide best services to consumers, the GoAP has insisted that the DISCOMS strive to achieve economic sustainability and sail in profits.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has been periodically reviewing the financial performance of power utilities has specifically directed that, the DISCOMS should put all out efforts to reach ‘zero commercial losses’ during this financial year. Further the Discoms should adopt a Special Action Plan for incurring profits from 2017-18 and have to strive further hard for achieving consumer satisfaction, who is the Ultimate boss.
“We have successfully conducted Krishna Pushkarulu and received Worldwide recognition. With blessings of Krishnamma, there is huge in-flows in to the reservoirs, which is a great boon to us. Every drop of water and every unit of Electricity is very precious. The Power Utilities have to utilise this great opportunity to maximise the Hydel generation, which is very economical and environmental friendly. The DISCOMS should also gear up for facing any eventualities and emergencies, in case of heavy rains/ cyclones. We have successfully overcome the HUDHUDH Cyclone and learnt many lessons which can be implemented in planning a foolproof disastrous management. Work out the possibilities if any, with the concerned departments for getting insurance to Electrical poles and DTRs, said Chief Minister.
Disclosing these view points of the Chief Minister during the review meeting of APSPDCL field officials upto the rank of DE, . Ajay Jain, Prl. Secy, Energy, I&I, CRDA, who has reviewed the overall performance of APSPDCL and implementation of Schemes like NTR JALA SIRI, Rural Electrification etc., along with K. Vijayanand, CMD/ APTRANSCO & MD/ APGENCO, K. Ranganatham, Advisor/ Energy, H.Y. DORA, CMD/ APSPDCL, Umpathi, JMD (Vig. & Security), APTRANSCO Dinesh Paruchuri, JMD (Fin, Comml, IPC, HRD & IT), APTRANSCO said that, the GoAP has been fully supporting the DISCOMS by taking away financial losses under UDAY scheme. The Govt has also given Agriculture Subsidy up-to Rs.3,200Cr this year.
As per the directions of Hon’ble CM, we have to initiate stringent steps for curtail all commercial losses this financial year. Focus on improving the Non-Agricultural metered sales and decrease the commercial and technical losses. Prepare an action plan for enhancement of Solar Roof tops, effective implementation of Energy Efficiency measures for minimising the losses, said Ajay Jain.
R. Ramanjaneyulu, Commissioner, RD&PR dept. who has also participated in the above meeting has assured that, here onwards the Panchayat Raj Department will promptly pay all electricity dues and consumption charges of all Village Panchayats, as per the directions of 14th Financial Commission.
