Jagan to visit rain-hit Guntur district from tomorrow

Hyderabad, Sept.24: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will visit submerged areas in Guntur district on Monday and Tuesday and will interact with farmers, who suffered crop losses owing to heavy rains and other flood victims in the district. Cotton fields in Prakasam district have been flooded as Nallamada Vagu breached. It was estimated that farmers have taken up cotton cultivation in 1,000 acres in the district. Farmers are struggling to bail out water from the fields. The Nallamada Vagu has inundated the fields at Cherukuru in Parchur Mandal. Officials are making efforts to prevent the water from entering into habitations. Steps were being taken on a war-footing to plug breaches in the swollen Sakivagu near Adusumalle. Vehicular traffic remained disrupted from Parchur to Guntur. Meanwhile, the train services on Hyderabad-Vijayawada route were cancelled for the third day as tracks at several places were damaged due to the floods. South Central Railway (SCR) announced the cancellation of 17 trains and diversion of 24 trains as the railway tracks between Sattenapalli and Piduguralla in Guntur district were damaged.
