Repairs soon for Mumbai highway: Harish Rao
Hyderabad, Sept.23: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said repairs to water logged Mumbai Highway near Ramachandrapuram BHEL will be taken up soon.
Harish Rao inspected the damaged road and said tenders were called for the same and works will be taken up soon. He expressed displeasure at the contractors for failing to take up repairs besides taking funds. The previous regime neglected the maintenance of the roads and contractors minted money, he fumed. This road connecting Miyapur and Sanga Reddy will be repaired with standards for a permanent solution.
Referring to heavy rains, floods, and water logging of apartments on the city outskirts, Harish Rao attributed it due to illegal occupation and construction of houses on nalas and low-lying areas in many places. The State government will remove illegal houses and sites from the nalas and low-lying areas and avoid recurrence of water logging in future, he said. Stating that 20,000 lakes and water bodies were filled with waters due to heavy rains, he said official machinery is making all efforts to provide help to the rain victims.
