Will flush out flood waters in Nizampet in three days: KTR
Hyderabad, Sept.22: Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today asked the people, especially the old aged and children to move to safer places until they can remove the water clogged in Bandari Layout near Nizampet here. The minister said the twin cities received as much as 32 cm rainfall like the city witnessed the downpour some 100 years ago and they could flush out the water in three days. The civic staff, in coordination with other departments, was trying to remove the waters and residents have to cooperate with the officials to reduce the problem, KTR said. Along with Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, the minister visited the marooned areas, nalas and residences abutting the nalas. The Minister tried to pacify them of inconvenience caused by the heavy rains of 32 cm as most of the low lying areas apartments are caught in the web of water. On Thursday itself, about 23 cm rain lashed the city and the people should understand the pathetic condition of waters clogged on the roads which never happened in recent times. “In two to three days, we can remove the same. Since more rains are expected, the people should be cautious and see that they avoid problems”, KTR appealed. Rescue operations are on and officials were asked to provide necessary help to the victims of the rains in the twin cities he said. GHMC, electricity, municipal, water works, police wings are coordinating to reduce the rain-related problems he maintained. The Mayor also appealed to the people to stay put in the residences and avoid rain-related problems. We have pressed in the staff to attend to the problems, he stated.
