Protests at Several Places on New Districts
Hyderabad, Sept.20: People in some places were seriously opposing the reorganization of districts taken up by the Telangana government. The people were expressing their protests on the announcement of new districts, revenue divisions and mandals. The people, who hoped that their region would become a district or mandal, were staging protest programs against the announcement of the new districts, revenue divisions and mandals by the State government.
The Sircilla Zilla Sadhana Samithi JAC has given a 48-hour band call demanding State government to make Sircilla as a district. The agitators staged a dharna in front of the RTC Depot. They burnt tyres on main roads and at Gandhi Chowk and Ambedkar Chowrastha. They destroyed the glass panes of the petrol bunk at Old Bus Stand. They destroyed the glasses of the RTC Bus when the bus was going towards Vampelli through Ambedkar Chowrasta. All-party leaders staged a rasta roko at Nethanna Chowk. The business and commercial shops have been closed voluntarily and Educational institutions announced a holiday. Samithi leaders Avuluri Ramakantha Rao, Ramulu, Chekkilla Mahesh Goud, Beemavaram Srinivas, and others participated in the program.
On the other hand, the agitation programs were on the rise demanding the state government to make the Korutla as a revenue division. The Revenue Division Sadhana Samithi has given a 48-hour band call from Tuesday. The educational, business, commercial and cinema halls have been closed on their own. The leaders have taken up bike rally in Korutla town.
In Warangal district, Sammakka Sarakka Zilla Sadhana Samithi has given a bandh call demanding the state government to make Mulugu as new district. The Samithi alleged that Chief Minister and Ministers made Bhoopalpally, where coal mining goes on, as district conspicuously though the Mulugu has all qualities to make a district. Sammakka Saralakka Zilla Sadhana Samithi president Munjala Bikshapathi said that they have given a bandh protesting against the Chief Minister, who failed to fulfill his own assurance of making Sammakka Saralakka district and making Bhoopalpally district. The TDP activists and students participated in the agitation by taking up rasta rokos.
In Warangal district, Women organizations, businessmen have taken up agitation demanding the state government to make the Parakala as revenue division. Parakala MLA Ch Dharma Reddy alleged that the state government was not responding to their demand though they have been staging agitations for the last one month. He said that they submitted a memorandum to the govt as the government failed to respond on it.
Tension prevailed in the Jana Garjana Meeting held with the permission of High Court in Janagama town demanding the state government to make Janagama as a district when the local MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy attended the meeting. The people raised slogans asking MLA to go back. MP Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar, former MLAs Sunnam Rajaiah, Mandadi Satyanarayana and others participated in the meeting.
Civil Organisation JAC has taken up intellectuals rally from Kaloji Statue located in Nakkalagutta in Hanmakonda to Collector office demanding the state government not to divide the historical Warangal City. Speaking on this occasion, JAC honorary president Prof. Koorapati Venkatanarayana said that it was painful that the division of thousand years history city as two districts. He said that the government has to make the Warangal City as one district respecting the aspirations of the people. Several Political parties leaders, students unions, public organizations and intellectuals participated in the rally.
All-party leaders have organized a rally in Mandal head quarters demanding the state government to continue Chinnachintakunta mandal in Mahbubnagar district today. Schools, government offices and business centers were closed. The leaders Nambiraju, Mohan Goud, Vazir Babu, Srinivas Goud have said that they were opposing the proposal of merging the Chinnachintakunta mandal in new district Vanaprthi. The leaders made the bandh a big success.
TRS, Congress, BJP and TDP leaders participated in the bandh. All party leaders observed bandh of Tandur demanding the government to make Tandur as revenue division in Rangareddy district. The buses were confined to depots, business, petrol bunks were closed. The commuters faced serious problems due to the bandh. The vehiculars faced troubles due to petrol bunks bandh.
