Cyberabad East CP cautions net users

Hyderabad, Aug.13: Cyberabad East Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat, IPS, has said in the past one week a number of cases of Gmail hacking are reported in Cyberabad wherein the hackers hacked the Gmail accounts mostly of NRIs, who are living in the USA. In a press release here on Saturday, Mahesh M. Bhagwat stated that after taking the email accounts into their control, hackers are selectively sending mails and also communicating with “Gmail Chat” to the persons who are in the contact list of hacked Gmail Accounts. The hackers, during the chat, are making the persons in contact list (most of them are relatives and friends) to believe that, due to technical reasons their bank accounts are frozen, and they are unable to draw the money and requesting them to share with their net banking details such as account number, user ID and password, so that, they can draw the money abroad. Since the chat conversation is taking place with the known Gmail account IDs, the victims are sharing the details required for doing net banking thinking that, they are communicating with their relatives. Only after establishing the contacts with the persons from whose Gmail IDs the request to share the bank details has come, they realize that their Gmail accounts have been hacked by using the password the victims communicated with the hackers. By the time the victims getting realized, it’s too late, and the hackers are transferring the money into their accounts. Mahesh M. Bhagwat appealed to the net users, not to fall prey to the hackers. Whenever anyone receives any such request from their relatives/friends living abroad to share the net banking details or to transfer the money, they must contact them in person through the mobile phone or another mode of communication other than the emails. Under no circumstances, they should share their net banking login details. If anyone receives any such request, they may immediately contact the Cyber Crimes officials in person or by phone over Mobile No. 9490617437, 9490617207 to track the hackers, Mahesh M. Bhagwat.
