AAP pehle in releasing assembly candidates list

AAP of Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday released its first list of 19 assembly candidates for the next year's elections in Punjab. AAP believes the Punjab elections will catapult it into power in the northern State after Delhi and is making hectic preparations. The first list however lays stress on social work. AAP has fielded candidates who are well known in the social sphere. They include a leader who fights for Sikh rights, one who is an Arjuna awardee, another a former BSP MP, one is a retired Brigadier and another a doctor. While AAP is no novice to Punjab politics having won two MPs' seats, it is not known on what calculations its high expectations are based. The Akalis are rooted in Punjab, and the Congress under the Patiala Prince Capt Amarinder Singh is no pushover either. Even so, AAP believes it can turn the tables.
