Congress workers sweep road at Sujana Chowdary residence in Nandigama

Congress workers led by Devineni Avinash swept the road in front of Union Science Minister Sujana Chowdary's house at Ponnavaram in Nandigama in Krishna district to protest against the minister remaining indifferent to the Andhras' demand for the implementation of the promised Special Category Status. After sweeping the road and clearing the dirt, Youth Congress leaders led by Avinash raised slogns against the Union Minister. They said he remained indifferent to the SCS demand in the Rajya Sabha. They also said that they were only following the way of protest as advised by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, which is also of foreign import and in the Japanese style, to sweep the roads in front of the houses of the objects of their ridicule. Earlier, there was some tension at Ponnavaram, as Congress workers arrived there in large numbers and the local TDP cadre was worked up. As it happens, Nandigama is also the native place of KVP Ramachandra Rao, the author of Private Mamber Bill in the Rajya Sabha, which is holding a flickering hope for the Andhras that they might still attain the SCS despite the indifference and outright opposition from the BJP.
