JP suggests compromise formula on special status
Hyderabad, July 30: Stating that the Prime Minister’s pledge in Parliament must be as good as law, Loksatta founder president Dr Jayapakrash Narayan suggested a compromise formula for according special status. The Central government cannot go back on the pledge made to Andhra Pradesh”, he said, adding that an innovative and meaningful formula is needed to satisfy AP. If the Centre faces any opposition for according to special status to AP, it should give special status not only to backward districts in AP, and this status should be accorded to 100 backward districts in the country, including Rayalaseema, North Andhra, and North Telangana districts. The Centre should give a tax break to these districts, Jaya Prakash Narayan opined.
