Seven mandals under Scheduled Areas transferred to AP: Keshav Rao

K. Keshav Rao, TDP Elder, on Thursday pointed out in the Rajya Sabha that under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act seven mandals have been transferred to Andhra Pradesh, which come under the Scheduled Area, meaning they could not be transferred. However, Keshav Rao was ambivalent toward Jairam Ramesh of the Congress for making a well-thought-out presentation on saving the forests and the rights of their dwellers. Jairam Ramesh was instrumental in drafting the AP Reorganisation Act. The raison d'etre of the Reorganisation Act is the Polavram project for Andhra Pradesh, which is on the losing side in terms of revenue, for which the seven mandals are vital. Jairam came in for much praise from the House from all sides, including Minister of State for Environment and Forests Anil Madhav Dave. He specially praised Jairam for starting the discussion on the Compensation Bill. The minister announced Rs 2223 Cr for Andhra Pradesh as Compa fund.
