Varavararao held while going to Mallannasagar
Civil liberties leaders who are normally the vanguard of farmers' issues have joined the beeline after many public figures have been arrested while trying to sympathize with the farmers and people affected by the Mallannasagar reservoir construction. As Varavara Rao, of Revolutionary Writers Association (Virasam), set out to meet the Mallannasagar farmers on Wednesday, he was arrested at Kondapaka in Medak district.
Varavararao was prevented from proceeding to Mallannasagar villages by the police and taken to police station.
The other leaders belonging to the Praja Front, who were with Varavararao, were also arrested. They are Dr Kasim, Ravichandra, Devendra, Gitanjali, Nalamasa Krishna and Ramanachary.
