Rajya Sabha to discuss KVP Bill at 2 pm Thursday

A discussion in the Rajya Sabha on KVP Ramachandra Rao Private Member's Bill demanding confirmation of the Special Category Status to the revenue-drained Andhra Pradesh as mandated in the AP Reorganisation Act was on Wednesday fixed for 2 pm on Thursday. Owing to the continuous disruption of the House proceedings by the Congress chanting `Implement SCS for Andrha Pradesh' and `We want justice' by the members of the Congress that divided the State unnaturally forced the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, PJ Kurien, to call for an all-party meeting today. It was decided by the all-party meeting to hold a discussion on the Special Category Status demand at 2 pm on Thursday. The Congress, atoning for its blunder of the AP split and loss of power on account of it, wants voting on the KVP Bill, while the ruling BJP is trying to argue that a private member cannot move a money bill. But the BJP is as guilty as the Congress in regard to Andhra Pradesh, as its members in the last Parliament raised the SCS from 5 to 10 years on their own.
