Navjot Sidhu issue still simmering over envoy post

You cannot question former Star batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu's credentials. He has not joined the AAP as yet, although it has been rumoured so. He is apparently giving time to the BJP leadership to correct its rigid stance in regard to him. For Punjab and Akali alliance are as much important to Sidhu as to the BJP. And this is probably why. Vijay Sampla, BJP President of Punjab, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament soon after the Sidhu press conference got over on Monday. Sampla put a formula before the BJP leadership to accommodate Sidhu, which would ensure he stays within the fold. BJP insiders have sent feelers to Sidhu: Would he like to be sent as High Commissioner to Canada or the UK after the Punjab assembly polls. So far, there has been no response from Sidhu, according to a PUnjab BJP source. If this is true, it's a huge setback for the AAP, which had welcomed him with open arms.
