New Textiles policy soon: KTR

Hyderabad, July 22: State Government will soon come up with a new Textile Policy soon along with a handloom policy later on the lines of IT and Industry policies by taking inputs and suggestions from stakeholders and weavers in the state. This was stated by IT and Industry Minster KT Rama Rao here at a meeting held at MCR HRD attended by industry bigwigs and associations of handloom and weavers community. On the occasion, KTR stated that though 60 lakh cotton bales are being produced in Telangana, only 10 lakh cotton bales are being used by the state. This gap should be plugged with the new policy to see that total cotton produced is used for textile industry through a textile park and help handloom industry. The government will come up with a new textile policy to boost textile and cotton industry in the state giving a major fillip to boost the survival of the weavers and others relying on he said. The policy will be rolled out as per the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s directive to see that the textile industry and handloom sectors flourish in the state to provide large scale employment opportunities and boost the state economy he said. He also said that KCR had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for Textile Park in the state. Drinking water, Internet At a workshop on Fiber Grid project, KTR said that Telangana state would connect people with the world by offering internet connection at their doorsteps. We will provide government services at their doorsteps via fibre grid project he said adding that 1.50 lakh km fiber lines being laid for internet facility. Mission Bhagiratha and fiber grid will go hand in hand to give drinking waters and internet connection simultaneously he added.
