Harish Rao re-opening projects almost completed by ex-Cong Govt & redesigning them

The TPCC Working president, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has alleged that the TRS leaders were inaugurating the projects completed by the previous Congress government once again, only to see the fruits of the Congress Jalayagnam. Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday along with former Minister Sudharshan Reddy, TPCC official spokespersons Konagala Mahesh, Kisan Congress leader Ashwin Reddy, Vikramarka alleged that the Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao went to Palamuru district in the name of inauguration of projects, only to see the fruits of Jalayagnam brought about by the Congress. The projects — Kalwakurthy, Bheema, Nettempadu, Koilsagar -- in Mahabubnagar were completed 95 percent by the former Congress government, but the present Irrigation Minister visited the projects in the name of inauguration, he said. It was ridiculous on the part of Harish Rao, who inaugurated the projects once again on Thursday, as the projects were already opened during the former Congress government. “It is first time in the history of the nation, as nobody did like Harish Rao”, Bhatti ridiculed. He asked the government to complete the Dummugudem project, which was almost completed by the Congress government, by allotting Rs.200 crore. If Dummugudem was completed, two lakh acre would be irrigated immediately, he said. Instead the TRS government was redesigning the project at a whopping cost of Rs.10,000 crore wasting money and at the cost of Khammam district farmers. He said that the Telangana state would lose rights permanently on the Shabari river water in case the government leaves the present project located at the Godavari and Shabhari rivers' meeting point. The TRS government was concentrating only on contractors welfare and not on the welfare of people, he added. Former Irrigation Minister Sudharshan Reddy explained that already the projects had been taken up by the previous Congress government as part of Jalayagnam and most of them were completed. But the present government was concentrating only on redesigning at the cost of farmers. He demanded the TRS government to complete the pending projects immediately to provide water to Mahabubnagar district farmers.
