New DGP to function from Vijayawada

The successor DGP of Andhra Pradesh, Nanduri Sambasiva Rao, told a TV channel on Friday that he would be discharging his duties from Vijayawada, unlike his predecessor JV Ramudu, who operated from Hyderabad. Sambasiva Rao, IPS, has taken over as in-charge DGP from Ramudu, who was relieved of the position two days prior to his retirement. The new DGP's working from the new Andhra Capital region will add enthusiasm to AP staff returning from Hyderabad. He was Managing Director of APSRTC when he was made in-charge DGP of AP. Nanduri Sambasiva Rao, a 1984-batch Indian Police Service officer, has been given the full additional charge of the DGP post. He will take office on July 23. Incumbent DGP Jasti Venkata Ramudu will be retiring on Saturday on the completion of his two-year fixed tenure.
