CPIM padayatra in Nalgonda for Sagar tail pond oustees

The angry CPIM is conducting a padayatra demanding compensation for the oustees in Nalgonda district for the Nagarjunasagar tail pond located in Guntur district. Tammineni Veerabhadram, CPIM leader, on Thursday demanded adequate compensation for the oustees who lost their lands for the construction of the tail pond. The compensation should be as per the 2013 Land Acquisition Act. If the government continued its indifference over the compensation, the CPIM would not hesitate to destroy the dam. He did not specify which dam. The tail pond is at Satrasala in Guntur district. The affected farmers are in Nalgonda district. The tail pond is located 21 km downstream of the Nagarjunasagar dam. When the matter was raised in the recent past, AP Irrigation Minister had said that adequate compensation would be paid after details are received from the Nalgonda district collector.
