Stakes at Hyderabad Race Club to go up; HRC to set up eyecare hospital

The Hyderabad Monsoon Races 2016 are scheduled to start from July 21 (Thursday) and conclude on October 25 with 28 race days framed for the season. Addressing the media on Wednesday, Hyderabad Race Club chairman R Surender Reddy said stakes expected this season were Rs 14.55 crore as against Rs.11.97 crore last year, with trophies of value Rs 30.87 lakh apart from the performance incentives for the owners. This is apart from other subsidies. The stakes will go up further with the division of races. The stakes: horse ratio offered at HRC is the highest in the country i.e. Rs 2.71 lakh per horse. Surender Reddy said 23 "A" licensed trainers at HRC would be racing their wards during the season. Some 34 “A” jockeys, including 10 "B" licensed would be taking part. Besides, leading outstation trainers and jockeys will also participate in the classic and graded races during the season. He said 747 horses are in station, including 221 two-year olds ready. Of them, some 526 horses would be participating during the monsoon season. The details of the Trainers lots are available on HRC’s website www.hydraces.com. Surender Reddy said they have started construction of their own Off Course Tote Centers (OCTC) at Enikepadu, Vijayawada, with all the modern amenities and would start functioning shortly. He also said a new modern model Tote centre was opened in June at Lower Tank Bund Road with all modern amenities and in a phased manner all Tote centers would be improved on similar lines in terms of amenities to punters. Surender Reddy said, “We are in the process of finalizing the vendor for self-vending betting kiosks to facilitate punters to bet through these machines through smart cards. This facility will be made available to punters from the start of Winter Races 2016-17. The Hyderabad Race Club will be providing affordable eye care treatment to the needy through HRC Charitable Trust Eye Care Hospital and accordingly entered into an understanding with the “Shivananda Rehabilitation”. The hospital provided facilities for both in-patients and out-patients and the same will be constructed in three phases. Conventional Ophthalmology and Phaco Surgery in first phase, Vitreo Retinal Surgery using Lasers in second phase and Paediatric Ophthalmology in third phase, he added. IMPORTANT RACES The prestigious races to be run during the Hyderabad Monsoon Races 2016 are: The Hazara Stud Golconda Juvenile Million-Gr.3 on August 8 (Monday); The Governors’ Cup on August 21 (Sunday); The Nizam Gold Cup-Gr.2 on August 22 (Monday); The Deccan Fillies Championship Stakes-Gr.3 on August 29 (Monday), The Deccan Colts Championship Stakes on September 5 (Monday); The President of India Gold Cup-Gr.1 on September 11 (Sunday); The Chief Minister’s Cup on September 18 (Sunday); The Deccan Derby-Gr.1 on October 2 (Sunday); The Melbourne Racing Club Trophy on October 3 (Monday) and The Golconda St. Leger-Gr.2 on October 24 (Monday).
