Aruna threatens suicide if new Gadwal district isn't created

An agitation for Gadwal district covering Alampur was going on, with former Congress minister DK Aruna taking up the cause for Gadwal on Tuesday. Aruna said Gadwal fulfilled all the criteria for a full-fledged district. However, if the TRS government, which was doubling up the districts, did not include Gadwal in the new list, she was prepared to commit suicide. She alleged that for personal gains, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was instead trying to make Wanaparthy a new district. But since the Gadwal mandal people were agitated, the mandal should be made a new distrit. Sampatkumar pointed out that the Alampur people had been agitating for 1 year for a separate Gadwal district, so their demand should be conceded. But the government was ignoring the demand in pursuit of its own agenda. The local people would teach them a lesson, he added.
