HC puts height limit of 15 ft for city Ganesh idols

The Hyderabad High Court on Monday reminded the Telangana government about its earlier directives regarding the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the city. It directed the government to ensure that the height of the Ganapathy idols should not exceed 15 feet. Resuming the hearing in the petition to stall Ganesh immersion in the Hussainsagar, the court reminded the government about the aspects of pollution, chemical colour usage and so on. The court sought a report from the government on the steps it had taken about the court directives. It also put the condition that the idol height should not exceed 15 ft. The famed Khairatabad Utsav Committee that takes out the tallest Ganesh in the city every year had decided to reduce the height of this year's Ganesh idol to 47 ft, one ft less than last year.
