Farmers' welfare is society's wellbeing, says Babu
Giving up on his high-tech fetish, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said for the welfare of the polity the farmer's welfare was essential. In a teleconference with the district collectors, the Chief Minister reviewed the provisions made for the farmers. He said Rs 24,000 crore had been released for the farmers' loan waiver scheme. He claimed that government's welfare measures had resulted in the output of 14 million tonnes of food grains in the State. Chandrababu said this year's target was put at 18 million tonnes. He said it was necessary for every farmer family to raise Rs 10,000 for fodder alone. He said a fillip would be given for irrigation water reaching farmers' fields.
