MoU signed between NIMS & ESIC Medical College under Bandaru guidance; 60% DM seats for Telangana

NIMS Director Dr Manohar and ESIC Medical College Dean Dr M. Srinivas in Hyderabad on Monday signed an MoU and exchanged it in the presence of Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Bandaru Dattatreya and State Minister for Medical & Health Dr C. Laxma Reddy and ESIC Regional Director R.S. Rao. Speaking on the occasion, Dattatreya said that the MoU was signed on the utilization of infrastructure of the ESIC Medical College and extending support of the Super Specialty experts from NIMS. The Union Minister said the NIMS had experts in all the Super Specialty Departments. The Super Specialty doctors, after completion of DM/MCH course are required to do one-year mandatory service and this shall be completed in the ESIC Super Specialty Hospital, Sanathnagar, attached to the ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad, as per the MoU. Dattatreya also said with the MoU, the workers and their dependents would be immensely benefited in treatment of various diseases 24 X 7 hours and the treatment covered the departments like Neurosurgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Nephrology, Urology, Radiology and Anesthesiology and so on. The NIMS will also be benefited with the most modern infrastructure and equipment of the ESIC Super Specialty Hospital along with accommodation to the Super Speciality Doctors in the ESIC Medical College Campus. Besides the Super Specialty Doctors would be getting job for one year after the completion of their Super Speciality course from NIMS. He also said the ESIC Medical College would offer 60% seats to Telangana and 40% seats to ESIC insured workers. Dattatreya congratulated Dr C. Laxma Reddy and Dr Manohar on the occasion of signing the MoU and thanked them for co-operating in extending better medi-care to the poor people. Dr Laxma Reddy congratulated Dattatreya and his team for obtaining MCI permission for ESIC Medical College at Sanathnagar duly attending to all deficiencies raised by the MCI in a record period of 100 days. He said the understanding between the Centre and State Govt. Medical Institutions is a boon to the poor workers and would start a new page in the Medical History of the State. Dattatreya said the Centre was extending 60% of about Rs 1000 crore for Medical and Health to the State of Telangana. Telangana State is being offered liberal funds from the Centre. He elaborated that while 60% was being borne by the Centre 40% is borne by the State in reproductive Child Health care – Rs 278 crore; Immunization – Rs. 30 crore, National Urban Health Mission – Rs 170 crore, Diabetes, elderly care cancer– Rs 431 crore, Malaria, Dengue control Rs 4 crore, TB Control Rs 7 crore, leprosy Rs 7 crore. The Union Minister also stated that under Prime Minister’s Swasth Suraksha Yojana, the Centre was offering its 60% share of Rs 150 crore to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad, Rs 150 crore to the Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Rs 150 crore to State Cancer Centre totaling about Rs. 1,000 crore.
