Ministers review new district plans for twin cities

The existing mandals, Assembly constituencies and revenue divisions in the twin cities are likely to see some changes if the State Government goes ahead with its plan to make Hyderabad and Secunderabad new districts. Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and T. Padma Rao Goud on Thursday held a review meeting with revenue officials on the proposal of new districts for the twin cities. With a help of a map, they discussed the changes pertaining to proposed new mandals, revenue divisions and their purview with the Assembly segments and changes to take place for administrative ease. The meeting assumes significance as the State government is planning to create some 14 new districts and 74 mandals. Srinivas Yadav and Padma Rao Goud asked the officials to prepare proposals in this regard. The government had already taken a key decision to increase the number of districts and mandals and kept under wraps specific plans to avoid criticism. It was decided by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to announce a key decision after an all-party meeting and eliciting public opinion, which are just a formality. The creation of new districts and mandals along with revenue divisions in the twin cities will certainly have an effect on the existing ones. The ministers said the Assembly segments may not necessarily remain in a single district and may spread into two, as KCR had already stated during a TRSLP meeting. The two ministers decided to hold another round of meetings for a logical conclusion with complete details.
